Respect for both oneself and others is a crucial specific of healthy connections. In discrepancy, in unhealthy connections, one mate tries to ply control and power over the other physically, sexually, and/ or emotionally.

Collective respect. Respect means that each person values who the other is and understands the other person’s boundaries.

Concession. In a courting relationship, each mate doesn’t always get his or her way. Each should admit different points of view and be willing to give and take.
Individuality. Neither mate should have to compromise who he/ she is, and his/ her identity shouldn’t be grounded on a mate’s. Each should continue seeing his or her musketeers and doing the effects he/ she loves. Each should be probative of his/ her mate wanting to pursue new pursuits or make new musketeers.
Good communication. Each mate should speak actually and openly to avoidmiscommunication.However, the other mate should admire those wishes and stay until he or she’s ready to talk, If one person needs to sort out his or her passions first.
Wrathfulness control. We all get angry, but how we express it can affect our connections with others. Wrathfulness can be handled in healthy ways similar as taking a deep breath, counting to ten, or talking it out.
Fighting fair. Everyone argues at some point, but those who are fair, stick to the subject, and avoid cuts are more likely to come up with a possible result. Mates should take a short break down from each other if the discussion gets too heated.
Problem solving. Dating mates can learn to break problems and identify new results by breaking a problem into small corridor or by talking through the situation.
Understanding. Each mate should take time to understand what the other might be feeling.
Tone- confidence. When dating mates have confidence in themselves, it can help their connections with others. It shows that they’re calm and comfortable enough to allow others to express their opinions without forcing their own opinions on them.
Being a part model. By embodying what respect means, mates can inspire each other, musketeers, and family to also bear in a regardful way.
Healthy sexual relationship. Dating mates engage in a sexual relationship that both are comfortable with, and neither mate feels pressured or forced to engage in sexual exertion that’s outside his or her comfort zone or without concurrence.
Unhealthy connections are marked by characteristics similar as discourteousness and control. It’s important for youth to be suitable to fete signs of unhealthy connections before they escalate. Some characteristics of unhealthy connections include
Control. One courting mate makes all the opinions and tells the other what to do, what to wear, or who to spend time with. He or she’s unreasonably jealous, and/ or tries to insulate the other mate from his or her musketeers and family.
Hostility. One courting mate picks a fight with or antagonizes the other dating mate. This may lead to one courting mate changing his or her geste in order to avoid disturbing the other.
Deceitfulness. One courting mate lies to or keeps information from the other. One courting mate steals from the other.
Discourteousness. One courting mate makes fun of the opinions and interests of the other mate or destroys commodity that belongs to the mate.
Dependence. One courting mate feels that he or she “ can not live without” the other. He or she may hang to do commodity drastic if the relationship ends.
Intimidation. One courting mate tries to control aspects of the other’s life by making the other mate fearful or skittish. One courting mate may essay to keep his or her mate from musketeers and family or hang violence or a break-up.
Physical violence. One mate uses force to get his or her way ( similar as hitting, slighting, grabbing, or shoving).
Sexual violence. One courting mate pressures or forces the other into sexual exertion against his or her will or without concurrence.1
It’s important to educate youth about the value of respect and the characteristics of healthy and unhealthy connections before they start to date.
